Helen Drennen AM

CEO

A widely recognised leader in education in Australia and internationally, in 2019, Dr Helen Drennen AM, was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Studio Schools of Australia.
Previously, Helen served 15 distinguished years as Principal of Wesley College in Melbourne. She was the first female to be appointed Principal in the College’s 152 years history. Between 2003 and 2018, Helen led the College through an historic period of transformation, innovation and change.
Helen’s career has spanned Victorian State, Australian National, and International Education, and she has taught in both Government and Independent school sectors in Australia and overseas.
Helen is currently the Chair of the International Baccalaureate Board of Governors, with Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, serving in this role since November 2020. In 2010, Helen was made a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators (FACE) and a Fellow of the Australian College of Educational Leaders (FACEL) in 2011. In 2016, she was recognised in the Australia Day Honours list as a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia.

Phoebe Van Bentum

COO

Phoebe has been involved in the education sector and community development in the Northern Territory (NT) for over 14 years, most recently as CEO of NT Christian Schools from 2019- 2023 and as COO between 2015-2019.
She has served on the NT Non-Government Schools Ministerial Advisory Council and the NT Block Grant Authority and has been a member of the Teacher Registration Board Employer Reference Group.
Phoebe is a qualified lawyer with a Masters in International Community Development and has recently undertaken the Australian Institute of Company Directors course in 2023.
Phoebe has worked extensively in rural and remote communities in the NT and has led governance, leadership and training initiatives in partnership with Warramiri Yolngu Elders ensuring that education is co-designed and co-delivered in line with local community expectations and needs.
She is a strong advocate for providing culturally relevant, quality education on country for Indigenous families and children across the remote north.

Luke Blackbourn

Director of Corporate Affairs

Luke brings over 20 years of experience in the Government and corporate sectors, with a focus on social impacts, energy and community issues.
He has worked in North America, Africa, Europe and Asia partnering with diverse cultures and stakeholder groups to support their development and inclusion.
Luke has worked closely with First Nations peoples in the Pilbara and surrounding regions over many years, and has sought to ensure their voices are central to discussions about their communities. Luke is passionate about creating opportunities for Aboriginal aHelennd Torres Strait Islander employment, education and empowerment. He currently serves on the Community Advisory Committee for the Roebourne Police and Community Youth Centre (PCYC). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Graduate Certificate in Social Investment and Philanthropy.

Tanya Davies

Associate Director, IERC

With over 25 years of teaching experience in secondary schools, Tanya thrives on working with other teachers and educational leaders to understand what works best in the classroom, for any student.
She has held a variety of leadership positions, with a focus on pastoral, organisational and curriculum leadership, including roles as Head of Middle Years Curriculum, Acting Head of Middle of School and Acting Principal of Yiramalay Studio School. Tanya first experienced the power of the SSA model of education as an Induction Lead Teacher at Yiramalay in 2011. As Head of Program for the Yiramalay/Wesley Studio School from 2012, she was instrumental in the expansion, development and growth of school and its partnerships in the early years. Since then, her involvement in the community and programs have evolved to her current role. She is a strong advocate for the SSA model of education as one that is good for all students and all schools.

Tanya holds a Master of Education, a Graduate Certificate in Theology and a Graduate Diploma of Japanese.
